Date Night in San Diego

Date night can take many different forms depending on your interests. If you’re stationed on base, there are plenty of things to do near Camp Pendleton, just down the road in San Diego. Even if you’re in military housing in San Diego, you still deserve a night away. A date night in San Diego might be just what you need! Whether it’s a romantic dinner followed by a walk on the beach or a mini-adventure exploring downtown, whatever kind of date night you’re looking for, this article has ideas for you!

Date night in San Diego: for art lovers

If you or your significant other loves art, start your evening early by going to one of the many museums located in Balboa Park, including the San Diego Museum of Art. This museum is a fine arts museum that has a wide variety of art but focuses on Spanish art. You could also choose to stop by the Museum of Contemporary Art or the San Diego Art Institute to view short-term exhibits. There's also a Shakespeare theater with indoor and outdoor performances! Finish the evening with a lovely dinner at one of the fine dining establishments in San Diego.

Date night in San Diego: for the hopeless romantics

Romance doesn’t have to be expensive. You can look for things to do on Camp Pendleton or you can start your date night in San Diego with a nice dinner out. You’ll have unlimited options to choose from. Finish the meal by enjoying a scrumptious dessert. Your night can end with a romantic moonlight walk on the beach. If you choose to have dinner downtown, then you’ll be right on the water and can walk to Seaport Village. There are also beautiful beaches, such as La Jolla Beach, all along the San Diego coast.

Date night in San Diego: for the adventurous

There are several options if you’re looking for a more adventurous date night. You could start by taking a small hike to Sunset Cliffs, so you can watch the sunset. As a bonus, this won’t cost you anything so you can splurge on your dinner at one of the many nice restaurants in San Diego. You could also take a miniature adventure and simply explore downtown San Diego to find fun new places to visit.

If you’re looking for a unique date night to remember, then you’ll want to check out the Whaley House Museum. The Whaley House is located in Old Town San Diego and is definitely not a place for people who are scared easily. This house is the number one most haunted house in the United States according to Travel Channel’s America’s Most Haunted. Over half of the Whaley House visitors experience paranormal encounters. If you want a date night that you’ll never forget, then you should be sure to check out this haunted house.

Date night in San Diego: for the water lover

Sometimes you want a casual evening, or even day, where you can simply spend time with your significant other and have some fun. If that’s what you’re looking for, then you should consider a speed boat ride around the bay. Speed Boat Adventures offers a 90-minute ride, and there are plenty of sights to see, such as the USS Midway and Coronado Bridge. Finish the evening with a casual dinner or a picnic on the beach, and you’ve had a fun, yet casual date.

Date night in San Diego: for the music lover

If you and your spouse are looking for an evening full of music, then look no farther. The new Rady Shell amphitheater offers gorgeous views of the water, and the sounds of the San Diego Symphony Orchestra. They also perform in the traditional music hall downtown, which is nicer during the winter months.

A short drive down to Chula Vista will take you to the Mattress Firm Amphitheater where there are concerts every weekend. Whether you’re into country music, pop music, or anything in between, this is the place for you. You’re sure to have a fun night full of music and dancing.

Date night in San Diego: Overnight!

Occasionally you need a night away from the hustle of your everyday life and you need a break from military housing in San Diego! If this is the case, then try going to The Pearl Hotel, located near downtown San Diego. Start your evening by dining at their on-site restaurant, grab a cocktail, and then go to their Dive-in Theater. Simply grab a pool chair and cuddle up with your significant other to watch a movie. You can even take a swim if you’d like. End your evening by booking a room at the hotel. And there you have it; a cozy overnight date night.

No matter what you’re looking for, you’ll be able to find something fun to do for a date night in San Diego. The military life can be stressful with deployments and PCSes, so make sure you take the time to plan a fun evening with your significant other to alleviate some of that stress.
