Family activities at Fort Liberty for any budget

Get outdoors

The 82nd War Memorial Museum and outdoor Airplane Park on Post is a nice outdoor space for looking at retired planes, helicopters, and tanks. This place is a favorite of children as they are able to see aircraft up close. You can find this hidden gem off of Ardennes Street on post.

Smith Lake Recreation Center offers a wide variety of outdoor activities for families. You can even camp or rent a cabin nearby through Fort Liberty’s MWR program. This is also the area to rent outdoor and recreational equipment such as bounce houses, campers, kayaks, and much more. Pets and hunting are not allowed.

Stay active

MWR hosts free monthly 5K’s on post from Spring through Fall of each year.

Fayetteville offers several public pools with low cost admission. Cost for public swim is between $1.00-$4.00, depending on age and Cumberland County residency.

The USO of NC hosts a Family Reset in the local area each year. Pre-registration is required.  This two day event hosts military families through fun and educational topics to help build resilience through the ups and down of military life.

In the Fort Liberty USO Center, located in the Soldier Support Center, there is a monthly Story Time event for young children from 10:00am-11:00am. This event requires pre-registration and each family receives one book, snacks, play time, and an art and craft that will complement the monthly story.
